Come and stay with us at Primrose, our family-run organic farm in the heart of the North Dorset countryside.

Our small, peaceful adults-only campsite is set within the farm, surrounded by open fields, hedgerows and big skies.

It’s simple, spacious camping with proper dark skies at night, plenty of room to unwind, and the farm shop and café just a short stroll away.

Whether you’re here for a quiet weekend, a few days exploring Dorset or simply to switch off for a while, Primrose is a lovely place to slow down, breathe out and enjoy being in the countryside.

We're also very well placed as a stop-off on the way to Cornwall and Devon, with the A303 only 20 minutes away.

We're open this year from the 1st September - 31st October.

Well placed for exploring

Primrose feels wonderfully tucked away in the North Dorset countryside, yet Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton and Gillingham are all within around four miles of the farm.

There’s also excellent walking locally, including routes straight from the farm, making it easy to head out on foot and explore the surrounding countryside.

The Campsite

Primrose is a rural campsite on a working organic farm, made for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle and spend a few days somewhere quieter.

There are no regimented rows or pre-marked pitches here, simply choose your own spot in the field. We welcome tents, campervans and caravans.

You’ll hear the occasional tractor, livestock and the everyday sounds of a working farm; and that’s all part of being here.

We’ve kept the facilities intentionally simple. The toilets and showers are portable units rather than permanent campsite blocks; they’re clean, practical and regularly looked after.

Primrose is about space, countryside, good coffee, long walks and a quiet evening under the stars.

For up to two adults

There’s a two-night minimum stay, giving you time to settle in, slow down and properly enjoy being here.

Additional adults are £10 per person, per night, with a maximum of four adults per pitch.

FAQs

Is the campsite adults only?

Yes. Primrose is an adults-only campsite, which helps us keep the atmosphere peaceful, relaxed and quiet.

Do you allow dogs?

No, sorry. Dogs aren’t permitted on the campsite. As Primrose is a working organic farm with livestock and other animals, we’ve decided that a no-dogs policy works best for the farm and for our guests.

How do I book?

For now, bookings are made by enquiry. Simply use the Enquire About Your Stay form on this page, or contact us through our Contact Us page, telling us the dates you’d like to stay and the number of adults in your party.

We’ll check availability and get back to you to confirm your dates and explain how to secure your booking.

Do you have ELSAN, chemical toilet or grey-water disposal?

No. We do not provide ELSAN, chemical toilet or grey-water disposal facilities at Primrose.

Please arrive with suitable arrangements in place and do not empty chemical toilets, cassette toilets, wastewater or grey water anywhere on the farm or campsite.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes. We have a two-night minimum stay.

Are pitches allocated?

No - there are no pre-marked or regimented pitches; when you arrive, you can choose your own suitable spot within the camping field and make yourself at home.

What facilities are there?

We provide toilets, hot showers and fresh drinking water. The farm shop and café are also just a short walk from the camping field.

What are the toilets and showers like?

Our facilities are intentionally simple. The toilets and showers are portable units rather than permanent campsite blocks; they are clean, practical and regularly looked after, but they are basic.

Is drinking water available?

Yes. Fresh drinking water is available from the standpipe on the hardstanding just outside the entrance to the camping field.

Is there electric hook-up?

No. There is no electric hook-up on the campsite, so please come prepared for off-grid camping.

Can I park next to my tent?

Yes. You’re welcome to park your car next to your tent. Please drive slowly and carefully around the camping field.

Can we have a fire or BBQ?

Open fires are not permitted, but BBQs are welcome as long as they are raised safely off the ground.

Disposable BBQs are NOT permitted anywhere on the campsite. This is to protect the grass and reduce the risk of fire.

Do you accept campervans/caravans?

Yes. Campervans and caravans are very welcome at Primrose, alongside tents. As with the rest of the campsite, there are no pre-marked pitches, so you can choose a suitable spot within the camping field when you arrive.

Can we explore the farm?

The campsite is part of a working farm, so not all areas are open to guests. Please follow the campsite signage and keep out of areas marked Private, Farm Access Only or No Public Access.

There is plenty of countryside to explore beyond the campsite, including lovely walks directly from the farm.

Is Primrose a working farm?

Very much so. Primrose is a working organic farm, so you may hear tractors, livestock and the everyday sounds of farm life during your stay. We think that’s part of what makes camping here rather special.

Can we walk directly from the campsite?

Yes. There is wonderful walking in the surrounding countryside, including walks you can begin directly from the farm.

What time are check-in and check-out?

You’re welcome to arrive between 2pm and 7pm.

On your departure day, we ask that you check out by 11am.
