Well placed for exploring
Primrose feels wonderfully tucked away in the North Dorset countryside, yet Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton and Gillingham are all within around four miles of the farm.
There’s also excellent walking locally, including routes straight from the farm, making it easy to head out on foot and explore the surrounding countryside.
The Campsite
Primrose is a small, relaxed campsite on our working organic farm, made for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle, switch off properly and spend a few days somewhere quieter.
***
There are no regimented rows or pre-marked pitches here. Instead, you can choose your own spot in the field, giving you the freedom to find the patch of grass, view or bit of space that feels right for you. It’s one of the things we love most about the campsite; it keeps everything feeling relaxed, spacious and wonderfully informal.
***
The setting is peaceful and the pace is deliberately slower. Days are for walking, exploring the local area, good coffee and simply enjoying a bit of space; evenings are for sitting outside, watching the light change and, once it gets properly dark, looking up at a sky full of stars.
***
You’ll hear the occasional tractor, livestock and the everyday sounds of a working farm; and that’s very much part of being here.
***
We’ve kept the campsite facilities intentionally simple. The toilets and showers are portable units rather than permanent campsite blocks, and while they’re clean, practical and regularly looked after, they are basic.
Primrose isn’t about polished shower blocks, electric hook-ups or tightly packed pitches. It’s about having space, being surrounded by countryside and enjoying a few days away from the usual rush.
If your idea of a good weekend is fresh air, long walks, something lovely from the farm shop, a really good coffee and a quiet evening under the stars, you’ll feel very at home here.
